I just found my playbill from an April show at BAM (St. Matthew Passion), and I clipped the cover off and taped it near my desk. The image is Self Portrait Sitting on a World by Julie Heffernan (2008). Quirky, pretty. Smirky? I love the background of Classical pastoral scenes.

It reminds me of Schnittke, and of an essay by Karsten Harries that I read back in college, from The Broken Frame. More on Schnittke later (he’s having a little revival in my head these days).
